The member states of the World Health Organization (WHO) created World No Tobacco Day in 1987.
World No Tobacco Day(WNTD) is observed around the world every year on May 31.
Since 1988 the WHO has presented one or more awards to organizations or individuals who have made exceptional contributions to reducing tobacco consumption.
WNTD is one of eight officialglobal public health campaigns marked by the WHO, along with World Health Day, World Blood Donor Day, World Immunization Week, World Tuberculosis Day, World Malaria Day, World Hepatitis Day, and World AIDS Day
Why this campaign was organized
Encourage all the consumer of tobacco to separate themselves from tobacco for 24 hours.
Tobacco threatens the growth of nations worldwide.
Objectives of this Campaign
To create awareness among individuals how they can contribute in making the world tobacco-free, by quitting their habits.
To give priorities on the action over tobacco control.

Tobacco industries emit huge amount of tobacco which increases the global warming.
10 billion cigarettes are disposed in environment every day.
Cigarette waste consist of 7000 toxic chemicals.
According to the report, smoking and tobacco use kills more than 7 million people every year. The report has estimated that by 2030, over 80% of the deaths will occur in developing countries which are increasingly targeted by tobacco companies.
This one of the reason of poverty people spent more money on tobacco than food.
