Severe weather warning issued by IMD for Goa, MP, Chhattisgarh & Central Maharashtra
India Meteorological Department has issued severe weather warning for Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Central Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka tomorrow.
Met department has also forecast, Heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh and Konkan and Goa.
Besides, Heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, parts of North East, Gujarat, Marathawada, Telangana and Kerala. These places are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall till Sunday.
• Chhattisgarh: Improvement in flood situation as rains ceased
In Chhattisgarh, there has been some improvement in flood situation in Bastar as the rains have ceased since morning.
The water levels in rivers of Bastar have started receding. The traffic on national highway 30 connecting Bastar with state capital Raipur has been restored. Over 250 people have been evacuated to safer places in Jagdalpur town.
Rescue teams are assisting people in interior areas of Nagarnar, Sukma and Dantewada. Bastar divisional administration has constituted seven teams to monitor the situation and to assist in the relief work. The Met department has issued forecast of heavy rains again in next twenty fours in Bastar.
• Maharashtra: Gadchiroli Distt facing flood like situation due to heavy rain
Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra is facing a flood like situation due to heavy rain. Rising level of water in Parlkota river has submerged vast areas in Bhamragad village. Doors of Gosikhurd dam have been opened to divert water from the dam.
Due to floods in Vailochana river near Vairagad of Aarmori Taluka, the road connecting Vairagad to Manapur has been closed. In last 24 hours in Bhamragad Taluka, 342.5 m.m. record breaking rain fall has been registered. Today in the morning one person died at Desaiganj who went for fishing. Heave rain has also disrupted normal life
