Toxins in litchi fruit may kill children in Bihar’s
- Study of the indian and US research found that children eating litchis and skipping their evening food are most vulnerable due to brain impairment by the extreme lower level of the glucose.
- Litchi fruit contains the toxins hypoglycin A and methylenecyclopropyl-glycine (MCPG). Its consumption and skipping evening meals causes very low blood glucose level (less than normal 70 mg/dL) and acute encephalopathy in children.
